When we met, he was funny, a little too loud… but very into me. So – I gave him a chance. On our very first date, I remember asking him, “What are you looking for?”
I’ll never forget what he did next: In the middle of his meal, not missing a bite, he took his fork and pointed at me. That was it; the deal was sealed for me.
Fast forward to the future, where I was diagnosed with the Big C. CC has been my knight in shining armor – in every sense of the word. This man has stood by me in my darkest days, supporting me through my emotional roller coaster.
He has been on my side throughout it all. When I couldn’t walk from painful symptoms before my diagnosis. But he told me, “Take your time, baby,” while half-carrying me to our destination.
He has been there with me every step of the way, from making up the couch for me to sleep on because it was the only place I could be comfortable to collecting and holding my prayer cards during my procedures and treatments.
I couldn’t ask for a better lover of my soul.

I have one like that too, I think. He’s made some pretty good mistakes before I was diagnosed but since then, he’s truly been the husband I’ve needed.
Yvonne, that right there is growth. Illness has a way of revealing what really matters. I love that he stepped into the husband you needed when it counted most. That kind of support changes everything.
